Hastings Community Radio station, 2WAYFM (103.9) is on air constantly until Sunday April 9, to raise much-needed funds. 2WAY FM supports the local community through service announcements, local information and a diverse range of music, information, news, sport and weather and is a popular alternative to commercial, syndicated stations.
The station studios, located in Wauchope, are completely powered by a dedicated and very passionate team of volunteers, who are all keen to support and entertain the Hastings local community.
While 2WAYFM recently celebrated its 30 year anniversary, the station remains a not-for-profit organisation, relying upon and supporting the local community, which it services as the only local voice on air.
“The station is an icon in in the Hastings Valley with a dedicated and growing audience that appreciates less talk and more music” President, Liz Faassen said. “Many listeners regard our presenters as friends.
“As you may appreciate, technology is changing rapidly and we need to keep up with the changes,” she said.
Technical facilities alone are a large cost to running the station and Liz said they would really appreciate the support the community. There are prizes up for grabs for listeners who pledge a donation by phoning the station or by email.
“By donating, you’ll be investing in your local on-air voice, and we sincerely thank all listeners and sponsors in advance” said Liz.

“All our nominated citizens and community groups are actively living the values of what it means to be Australian. This is what makes our region such a strong, resilient and caring community. On behalf of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Australia Day Sub Committee, I wish to thank each and every one of you for your contribution to our community.”
“Since going to air 30 years ago Hastings Community 2WAY FM has provided its listeners with a real alternative to other local radio stations with live programs seven days a week from 6 am to 10 pm. Now with 70 presenters volunteering their time, 2WAY FM’s programs offer a wide variety of entertainment, interviews, music, and regular community service announcements. The volunteers work with not-for-profit groups, youth groups and the local schools, providing a unique opportunity for young people to further their skills in public speaking, English and general confidence building.
